GMOA Cruise Ship

Cruise ships are known as luxurious floating cities, and rightly so. Royal Caribbean one of the top shipping
lines has ordaned their  ships with amenities such as upscale spa’s, ice skating rinks, and water parks.

Although the $40 billion cruise ship industry has been growing, they have also had a multitude of
controversies, concerning passenger health and safety.

“There are significant risks as these ships get bigger and bigger” said
Kendall Carver, president of International Cruise Victims. “The new
ones owned by Royal Caribbean hold over 6,000 passengers and 2,000 crew
members, over 8,000 people.” A fire or terrorist attack on a ship like
that would be disastrous.

Mr. Kendall Carver founded ICV in 2004 after his daughter Merrian, disappeared while
on an Alaskan cruise.

During one of the most recent episodes, an early morning fire in the generator compartment
of the R.C. Splendor knocked out several of the ship’s operating systems. Over 4,500 passengers
and crew were left without air conditioning, hot food and phone service.

Although there are countless horror stories told by Splendor’s passengers, they pale in comparison
to what would have happened had the fire been worse.

What if a terrorist organization chose to target a ship like that?

Think about it, when terrorists planned for the attack on 9/11 they specifically were looking to kill
as many people as they could in a confined space. Sounding familiar yet? So, It has been decided
that this will be our next topic on, Get Me Out Alive!
